Operational Focus - Monthly Review (January 13, 2025)

Are you taking time each month to reflect on what's working - and what's not?

It's easy to get stuck in the grind. Checking in regularly can keep you from repeating ineffective processes or losing sight of your goals. A monthly review is a simple yet powerful habit that ensures you're steering your business, and employees, in the right direction.

Reflection turns experience into insight - John Maxwell

Without taking time to reflect, even the most productive month can pass by without meaningful lessons. A monthly review allows you to turn your experiences into actionable insights, helping you refine your strategies and avoid repeating mistakes.

Quick Tips for Your Monthly Review Process

  • Start small: Choose one area of focus, such as tracking your top three quarterly or annual goals, or assessing team performance.
  • Set a Schedule: Pick a specific day and time each month for your review. Put it on your calendar like any other important meeting.
  • Ask 3 Key Questions: What worked well this month? What didn't work? What adjustments can I make moving forward?

Tips to Help You Stick to It:

  • Make It Simple: Use a template with a few bullet points to streamline the process and save time.
  • Add Accountability: Share your findings with a business partner, mentor, or coach for added motivation
  • Focus on Actions: End each review by identifying 1 or 2 concrete steps to implement before the next review.

By building a habit of regular reflection, you'll create a feedback loop that helps you and your business grow stronger every month.

Personal Update:

This month, I've been working on some client projects while taking time to reset and refocus. These shorter, colder days are a good time to pause and reflect. Watch my newsletter for more content, updates, and digital products!
